Alistair is the CEO of Harbour Future Leaders (HFL). HFL is a specialist leadership consultancy which partners with people and Culture teams and the wider business to truly understand the immediate business and future challenges and drivers of our clients. We then design and deliver business-savvy, end-to-end, customised, blended leadership development solutions that deliver enhanced business results.
Alistair joined the company in 2007, and is now majority owner of the business. As well as working on the business, he also occasionally works in it – as a C-level executive coach, and facilitator.
Alistair brings strong business focus and background to HFL. He has been involved in several start up companies, bought and sold publishing, web and IP businesses, and his specialism is working with leadership teams to drive cultural change that leads to sustainable business growth.
Alistair’s leadership journey includes a stint as student union president in his (much younger) days, launching a variety of magazines in the UK, leading a publishing start up in Melbourne for a European multinational, building and growing his own publishing business across Asia Pacific until it was acquired by Fairfax Media in 2000, running the magazine division of Fairfax Business Media for 18 months, and stints on the boards of media, web development, mobile content, and business information companies. It the past five years he has worked as a trusted advisor to executive teams from blue chip multinationals across the Asia Pacific.
He has a degree in Politics and Behaviour in Organisations from the University of Lancaster, and is accredited in several leadership development areas and diagnostic tools. He has lived and worked in Singapore, the UK and Australia. He has run business operations in Hong Kong, India, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and the UK. He is married with two daughters and currently lives in Sydney.
Alistair’s over-riding passion has always been to push hard to realise the potential inherent in good businesses and good people. At HFL he is able to indulge fully in the pursuit of helping leaders at all stages of their leadership journeys to realise their full potential.
