Rob holds a Bachelor of Behavioural Science (La Trobe Uni), a Masters of Arts Preliminary, Psychology, Honours (UNSW), Doctorate of Philosophy (Sydney Uni), and a Graduate Diploma, Labour Relations Law (Melbourne Uni). He has lectured at the University of Sydney in Human Performance (measurement of personality, individual differences and human performance) and the University of Western Sydney. Prior to joining HFL, Rob was a Senior Consultant with Personnel Decisions International (PDI). Rob has worked with several national and international businesses, including companies such as Shell, Coles Group, Cadbury Schweppes, Grinaker LTA and Holcim. This work has seen Rob consulting with leaders in Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Russia, China and South Africa. Rob’s consulting work has involved succession planning, assessing the capability and fit of senior job applicants, assessing managers for the purposes of facilitating their development as leaders, facilitating active learning workshops and executive coaching. Typically Rob works with managers identified as strong performers who are about to make a leadership transition and are recognised as having the potential to make a significant contribution to the future of their company. Sectors in which Rob has had strong experience include Engineering, Manufacturing, Retail and Banking. Before moving into consulting, Rob was employed as an Executive Director, then CEO and Company Secretary of the AFL (Australian Football League) Players Association for a period of 5 ½ years. Key responsibilities in this role included the negotiation of industrial agreements and representing the professional interests of the members to employers, Government agencies and the general public. This business experience allows Rob to bring an appreciation of the leadership challenges faced by managers to his consulting roles. He has been a Board Member for the AFL Players Association, AFL SportsReady, Arts and Creation Training Victoria, College of Sport Psychologists (Vic) and Victoria University Sports Administration Advisory Boards. Rob has completed training in Advanced Negotiation Skills, Leadership and Coaching skills training. He is particularly noted for his successful negotiations with Federal and State Government bodies and Indigineous Sporting communities. A former elite athlete, Rob was also previously employed as a Senior Assistant Coach for the Essendon Football Club within the Australian Football League and is the recipient of the esteemed Australia Medal for his contribution to Australian community through sport. |
